Wandering Pattern

Oil on canvas. Some Alstromeria originally purchased for a class had been sitting in my sunroom for a while. I kept looking at them and they seemed to be speaking me. The pattern on the petals kept catching my attention ...appearing random but feeling confined. I wondered how they might look and feel detached from those petals allowed to wander freely around the canvas. What does one do with unrestricted freedom?
